Bonsai

The assembly hall of a private school played host to the annual bonsai show this weekend.

Even before we got inside we were captivated by the landscaping around the building. When I got home I started googling for info about growing azaleas. Surprise surprise, one website said they are one of the top impulse buys in nurseries. Unfortunately, as I thought I remembered, they are fussy about soil and prone to pests and diseases.

Then we got to the main event, the way to squeeze even more trees into a finite space. I love them all, but I think my favourites are the groups of maples, little forests the size of a dinner plate, gorgeous!
