A Quick Visit to the Arboretum

The National Arboretum is now officially open so we stopped for a quick look on the way home from the shops. It's hard to do justice in photographs, many of the trees are still very small and there's still some building work going on, but this is going to be such an amazing place.

There's great views back to the city.

Does that building look strangely familiar?
The Pavilion will host smaller functions.

We were too late to go into the Visitors Centre.

Here's another view of it above the dam.

I love this sculpture, Nest III by Richard Moffat.
It's made mostly from old farm machinery
found on the site.

There was a steady stream of people
checking out the view from Dairy Farmers Hill.

The trident maples are growing well.

So are the birches.

I'll try to make another visit soon and get some better photos, and have a look at the Visitors Centre.
