The second day of spring started to feel genuinely springlike so I found myself feeling reasonably enthusiastic about going for a walk. We decided to have a look at the Lindsay Pryor Arboretum. This is a 30 hectare site beside the lake which was planted out in the 1950's by forest scientist, botanist and landscape architect Lindsay Pryor. The area was damaged in the 2003 bushfire. In recent years work has begun to renew and upgrade it. There's a lack of signage, and the main path which was previously a gravel road was quite uncomfortable to walk on in my shoes although hubby wearing runners was not bothered by it, but it's a beautiful setting with some wonderful old trees, and hopefully with the attention it is now getting it will continue to improve.
On the way home we stopped at Mount Ainslie, we haven't been up there in a long time. By now it was really cooling down so we didn't stay very long. I love the late afternoon sun on the gum trees.
