Old Parliament House

We visited the annual Behind the Lines political cartoon exhibition at Old Parliament House and took the opportunity to wander around again. I'm so glad they preserved this building as a museum, it's so interesting on so many levels.

Front door.

Custom door handles.

One of the courtyards.

Life sized models, a little startling.

Press gallery office.

A back-bencher's office.

Office of the Clerk of the Senate.

Prime Ministerial staff office.

Prime Minister's office.

The House of Representatives Chamber.

The Senate Chamber.

King's Hall.

Love the architectural details.

In places the structure and older layers of paint have been revealed (the plaster contained horsehair!).

The original part of the building dates from the 1920's but the extensions are noticeably 1970's.

As always, a fascinating visit.
