The visit to Orroral Valley earlier this week had me wanting to visit Honeysuckle Creek again, so as the weather was nice today off we went.
Honeysuckle Creek was another space tracking station site, in fact this is where the first pictures of man walking on the moon were received. After Apollo the station supported Skylab, Viking, Voyager and Pioneer, before being closed down in 1981. The dish was relocated to the Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex at Tidbinbilla and was retired in 2009.
But we weren't finished yet...
