Open Gardens Australia started in 1987, based on the UK's National Garden Scheme. Last year the decision was made to wind up the organisation due to increasing costs and uncertain long-term viability. The 2014-15 season is the last, and this past weekend we visited the last two gardens open in our local area.
Thank you to all the gardeners who have so generously opened their gardens and thank you to the volunteers who have made the many enjoyable weekends of garden visiting possible.
