Towards Mount Tennent

Almost half of the Australian Capital Territory is national park, which means it's easy on the spur of the moment to hop in the car and find somewhere for a bushwalk.

We started our walk at the Namadgi Visitors Centre. I like the ornamentation under the roof.

See. Isn't that cool.

We were only thinking of wandering around the pond.

It looked lovely on this gorgeous sunny winter day.

But I thought I had remembered it as being a longer walk and we were feeling energetic.

So we continued further on.

And we found ourselves at the entry to the Mount Tennent walk.

Interesting.

The first part of the track was flat and open.

There was evidence of the large amount of rain we've had.

I love moss.

So here's yet another photo of it.

Hubby suggested we turn back here at a longish stretch of mud in the low point of the track.

But the path was obviously going to start to climbing so I wanted to try to go a little further.

In places the path crossed expanses of rock.

And then I looked back and saw this view. Definitely worth a little climb.

There were more trees around.

The afternoon sun was beautiful.

But walking facing into it was difficult at times.

This little creek was making a beautiful sound.

We crossed a few more expanses of rock.

And saw signs of a past bushfire.

We could see all the way back to Black Mountain.

The path was getting a little rough in places.

After admiring the view one more time we turned back.

There are still plants flowering in winter.

This one puzzled me, I was sure it was blue but it came up white in the photo.

We briefly saw a few kangaroos and small birds but only the flowers posed for photos.

We saw a few ants nests like this one.

Down in the valley the road home awaited us.
