Swans, Swamps and Stinks

I realised it was the last day of an exhibition I wanted to see so we headed into town. First we stopped at the Archives which often has worthwhile displays and sure enough there was an interesting one about Antarctic exploration. The park opposite was full of cockatoos, there must have been about two hundred of them.

Then we headed down to the lakeshore to see the 'Bloom: Healthy Spaces' exhibition at the Gallery of Australian Design. Ironic that the building was not a healthy space, it reeked of some kind of construction-work solvent. Ironic also that the air was better outside the building despite the smell from this autumn's bloom of blue-green algae. So we wandered around for a little while enjoying the sunshine and photographing the swans.

Oh my goodness, I've never seen so many cocatoos in one place! I think that may have made me uncomfortable...reminds me of the movie 'The Birds.' I bet it was mesmerizing to see them all take off at once though.
