An Early Spring Walk

The glorious spring weather encouraged a resumption of my exercise regime. We parked near the Hyatt Hotel, originally one of the hostels built for people moving to the new city.

I kept up a good pace past the croquet club

 past the Magna Carta monument

along the tree lined pedestrian avenue

through the rose gardens, not yet in bloom

past the front of Old Parliament House

through the rose gardens on the other side, where the wisteria isn't quite in flower yet

 but the blossom trees are

about here I started to feel my age

reaching the lake we turned to head back

past the National Gallery

where the wattle and hardenbergia are in full bloom

I wondered if I could get a lift

but with no jetty near where we parked I didn't fancy trying to leap ashore

the Manchurian pears are a lovely sight in early spring

 pretty blossoms

around here I had to tell Hubby to stop talking about how far we've walked

 almost back to the car

the Chinese Garden was near where we parked

and we couldn't resist going over to admire the magnolias

 and the traditional structures

and then it was time for home.
