Canberra's 100th birthday coincides with the 50th birthday of the Veteran and Vintage Car Club of the ACT, and this past week the Club hosted the National Rally for 1 and 2 Cylinder Vehicles. On Monday the wonderful old vehicles were on display at the Museum of Australia.
The lakeside location also gave us a view of some of the activity on the lake for the 100th birthday celebrations. The Museum jetty was a boarding location for musicians going to perform for the crowds around Regatta Point. One of the craft being used was the PS Enterprise, which was launched in 1878 and worked on the Murray River for decades. In the 1980's it was purchased by the Museum and is now usually a static display, so it was lovely to see it working on the lake. It is maintained and crewed by volunteers.
